Position SummaryProvide Level 2 and 3 support for internal customers including managing and resolving outages of supported applications. Provide 24x7 support of installed applications. Provide support to internal client sale of service obligations, including site assessment, application demonstrations, application implementation, and application training. Assist in the definition of system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. Prepare detailed specifications from which application soultions will be developed. Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and document as . necessary.Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Assist in the definition of application scope and objective via client meetings and research.2. Prepares detailed specification from which application solutions will be developed.3. Modifies moderately complex information systems like Plant Historians, RTU and related applications and tools.4. Designs, implements, tests, trouble shoots, and maintain field data acquisition systems.5. Assist in managing the technology support needs of various business units as they relate to data acquisition and related applications.6. Collaborates as required to support department and corporate goals.7. Interact with IS Client Services staff where appropriate ensuring that supported applications services are provided at appropriate service levels.8. Provide leadership, including input to departmental and individual goals, objectives and performance success criteria.9. Assist in the development, implementation and enforcement of the annual capital and operating budget.10. Perform other related duties as required.Special Skills and Knowledge1. Must possess excellent conceptual knowledge of various data acquisition technologies, including but not limited to: DNP protocol, Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Plant Historians and wireless communications.2. Must be familiar with the function and operation of Market Information Systems and related subsystems like SCADA, ICCP and AGC.3. Design and deploy data acquisitions technology solutions in support of various business units, including any third party customers where appropriate.4. Must possess excellent conceptual knowledge of electrical meters and meter interfaces. Must have experience with installation and support of meter interfaces.5. Must possess excellent conceptual knowledge and provide day-to-day support of plant historians.6. Design and deploy data acquisition technology solutions in support of business unit sale of service contract obligations. Qualifications  Qualifications1.         Associate s degree in Electronic Technology, or in lieu of education minimum seven (7) years related experience in installation and support of data acquisition devices2.         At least four (4) years of related experience with support and installation of plant historians.3.         At least two (2) years in leadership role of designing and implementing data acquisitions solutions.4.         Strong conceptual domain knowledge of various industry protocols and standards like DNP, MODBUS, RS-232, Ethernet and fiber optic communication.5.          Domain knowledge in the area of plant DCS and meter interface technologies. powerful performers Calpine is a leading independent power producer in the United States, delivering clean, reliable energy to a power hungry nation.
