Senior Counsel - Corporate Law

Primary Purpose:The Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support on a wide variety of transactional matters for Sempra Energy.  This support includes assisting with the analysis of potential domestic and international transactions and drafting and negotiating such transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project development and other arrangements, and the drafting and negotiating of documents relating to such transactions. Requirements: Five or more years of experience in corporate transactional law, including mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.  Experience with project finance, international transactions or the energy industry are pluses.The preferred candidate should have experience with a well established law firm and/or a corporate legal department.The candidate must demonstrate the ability to analyze complex business situations and develop recommendations which meet the company’s legal and business needs. The person must also have the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively to management, possess strong document drafting and negotiating skills and experience, and exercise independent judgment.We are seeking a team player with good personal skills and the ability to work well under pressure and multi-task.  Some travel may be required.
