Job Requirements
In this position you will be responsible for engineering development of energy conservation measures for Performance Contracts (ESPC). Energy engineer to conduct energy audits in large federal, commercial and institutional facilities. Under limited supervision, this person will identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with HVAC, EMS, Building Shell, and heating and cooling systems. Responsibilities include site investigations, performing energy savings calculations, developing subcontractor scopes of work, internal cost estimates and written descriptions of energy conservation measures in support of ESPC proposals and technical audits. Duties to be assigned as follows: • Provide lead role in managing technical aspects of the project team. • Analyze utility bill data to determine customer energy performance parameters. • Must be able to identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with HVAC, EMS controls, boiler and chilled water plant systems in ESPC projects. • Must have good knowledge of HVAC, chillers, boilers, air handlers, variable speed drives, motors, etc. Need to have a working knowledge of HVAC design. • Must be able to perform cooling and heating load calculations to properly size chillers, boilers, etc. • Must be able to perform energy calculations using temperature bin analysis methods to calculate energy savings associated with mechanical HVAC equipment and systems. • Must be able to write scopes of work for HVAC systems for subcontractors. • Must be able to develop cost estimates associated with mechanical energy conservation measures. • Write detailed energy conservation measure descriptions to be included in proposal submissions including EMS sequences of operation • Participate in marketing presentations. • Must be familiar with IPMVP measurement & verification protocols • Perform Quality Control review functions
Minimum Qualifications:
7-10 years experience in energy analysis, and HVAC and EMS design. • Prior experience working for ESPC contractor developing energy conservation measures for ESPC • Prior experience developing EMS control strategies to reduce energy consumption. • Prior experience developing detailed subcontractor scopes of work for mechanical HVAC systems. • Experience writing, reviewing and optimizing EMS control sequences of operation to control building energy consumption. • PE License preferred • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering • Proficient in MS Office software – Excel and Word • Proficient written and oral communication skills • Past experience interfacing with customer technical representatives • Willingness to travel.
