For more information about Progress Energy, visit the company's Web site at www.progress-energy.com.   This position serves as the primary engineering resource to provide support to a wide range of work groups to facilitate various complex maintenance, energy service, and construction activities.  Position provides technical engineering expertise and leadership to insure cost; schedule, scope and quality expectations are met safely in achieving corporate goals and exceeding customer expectations.  This position coordinates the investigation, analysis and follow-up actions for momentary line operations, customer outages, and power quality issues.  The position analyzes and verifying proper operation of equipment within the transmission maintenance area. Position requires a high level of both verbal and written communication skills to interfaces with a wide variety of both internal and external customers and vendors to resolve issues and derive at solutions to utility system problems.  Position is responsible for providing contract support and supporting complex maintenance activities at nuclear and fossil plants, and industrial customers substation facilities. This position will ensures all work activities are performed in a cost-effective manner that contributes to a safe working environment and reliability of service to our customers.  Position provides support for area maintenance managers and must demonstrate the ability to provide the required level of leadership to assist the manager in maintaining an effective and competent work force.  Position coordinates the collection of data to prepare engineering requests and phase project activity.  Position must demonstrate the ability to serve as a project manager for emergency equipment replacements ensuring costs, schedule, scope, and quality expectations are met and safety and environmental regulations are followed.  Position requires a self motivated individual capable of work with minimal supervision.  Individual must demonstrate a personal openness to diverse and innovative ideas and collaborate with other to achieve positive results.   Qualifications  Bachelor's degree in engineering (not engineering technology program) from an ABET accredited program or a current PE license is required.  An international engineering degree will be considered.
