Senior Material Handling Designer

Project position with The Shaw Group.  Hourly rate plus per diem.Job Description:Manages designers and/or works independently in preparing models, sketches, and drawings of bulk material handling systems for power plants. Develop drawings and related specifications for material handling equipment (conveyors, feeders, transfers, transfer towers, bins, crushing/screening equipment, etc.) according to engineering sketches and specifications. Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and related data to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangements. Model layout of equipment and compute angles, weights, dimensions, clearances, and tolerances. Draft detailed drawings of equipment and arrangements using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. Other duties as may be assigned such as, but not limited to, detailing, checking, and material take-offs.Qualifications:High school diploma. Proven ability to perform structural and mechanical detailing and 3-D modeling of bulk material handling systems for power plants (coal, limestone, ash), mining industry or cement/aggregate industry. Knowledge of both Microstation and AutoCAD, must be proficient in PDS. Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on detail, and follow work rules. Must work safely and adhere to safety policies.  Associates degree. Ability to solve practical problems. Knowledgable and experienced in computer usage including MS Office and Documentum. Knowledge and understanding of AISC, ASCE, ASME, CEMA, AWS, OSHA codes, standards, and practices.
