Senior Survey Technician

 

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: 

Prepares land survey plats and drawings and writes legal descriptions used for land acquisition and construction of pipelines and related company facilities.

 

SCOPE AND MAGNITUDE: 

Prepares plats and drawings associated with projects primarily in Texas.

 

POSITION FUNCTIONS: 

· Evaluates accuracy and sufficiency of survey data received, ensuring compliance to applicable regulations and generally-accepted professional and industry standards related to boundary calculations, legal descriptions etc.

· Performs deed research, deed plotting and map checks.

· Uses CAD products to prepare survey plats and drawings, legal descriptions and alignment drawings for land acquisition and construction purposes. 

· Performs quality control checks of plats and drawings prepared by other technicians.

· May train other technicians on various position functions and tasks.

· Ensures schedules and productivity objectives set by supervisor for preparation of survey plats and drawings are achieved. To a certain extent relies on professional experience, skills and judgment to establish goals and plan and accomplish work.

· May maintain and update company maps and drawings as assigned.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: 

Internal: Land Managers and Landmen, Manager Construction, Construction Foremen, other E&O Personnel

External: Survey contractors and survey crews, contract ROW agents and Title agents, Landowners

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED: 

EDUCATION: 

High School Diploma required; technical school education in field a plus.

 

EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications): 

At least 4 years technical experience in the field required.
