Shift Manager - Energy & Utilities

AK Steel, a leading producer of carbon, stainless and electrical steels, has an immediate opening for Shift Manager - Energy & Utilities located at our Middletown Works facility in southwestern Ohio.Primary Responsibilities: Position is accountable for the direction of maintenance and operations for the operation of air, water, wastewater, and steam producing facilities at the Middletown Works (OH) facility.  All activities must meet applicable safety and environmental requirements. Experienced in the production of air, water, and steam utilizing boilers, blowers, air compressors, turbines, water conditioning equipment, pumps reservoirs, chlorinators, chemical mixing plants and other related equipment. Maintains normal supervisory control over crew with due consideration to safety, housekeeping, personnel issues; instructs personnel in standard operating procedures. Schedule swork and equipment for assigned crews in accordance with skill, technical knowledge, operational needs and contractual agreements. Observe work performance and periodically inspect equipment for conformance with State requirements. Contacts State Insurance Boiler Inspector to certify and license boilers annually. Purchases new equipment and parts.  Requests and directs maintenance activities during equipment outages.Knowledge and Experience: Prior management or supervisory experience is required. A degree in an Engineering discipline (prefer Mechanical or Chemical) is required.  Bachelor's degree is preferred; Associate's degree with significant experience is acceptable. We are looking for experience with the following:  energy conservation, combustion controls, and energy optimization. This position is primarily day-shift, but is subject to back-turns and weekend coverage on an as-need basis. Stationary Steam Engineers license desireable, but not required.
