Solar Cell Engineer

Job Description

American Science and Technology Corporation,  (ASTC) a rapidly growing diverse business is seeking an engineer for Solar Cell design, manufacturing, and testing experience to work on the development of fixed and flexible solar cell products (fixed and flexible).

 

The solar cell engineer will be a key member of ASTC’s technical, product development and marketing team. This individual will collaborate with principal investigators, vendors and supplies to resolve technical issues or concerns related to the manufacturing processes of solar cell products (fixed and flexible).  In addition, the successful candidate will provide engineering support for the sales and marketing team to develop strategies to enter emerging markets.

Roles and Responsibilities:Design manufacturing processes for solar cell products (fixed and flexible)Design facilities required for a pilot and full manufacturing solar cell lineDevelop testing methodologies for solar cell products (fixed and flexible)Provide technical support to the marketing teamDirect technicians to gather production and test data of various solar cell productsCollaborate with principal investigators and other professionals as required

 

Qualifications, Requirements and Skills:Experienced in solar cell module testing and manufacturingExperienced in developing and implementing solar cell manufacturing best practices Project management skills related to solar cell manufacturing facility installation, start-up and production launchUnderstand emerging solar cell technologies (i.e., photovoltaic, thin films,, ink jet printing, nano-photonics, and nano-crystalline)Understand fixed and flexible solar cell manufacturing processesUnderstand basic photovoltaic and thin films performance characteristics Understand lean manufacturing, six sigma and statistical process control techniques & toolsUnderstand ISO 9001:2000 Quality Methodologies and PracticesApply manufacturing best practices to improve product efficiencies Demonstrated knowledge of the solar industry (i.e., cells, modules, ink jet printing, thin –films research and development, amorphous silicon photovoltaic module manufacturing, and flexible plastic substrates)Familiar with simulation and modeling software applicationsRelevant Work Experience: 2+ to 5 years

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology/physics/materials sciences. Advanced degree preferred

Employment Requirements: US citizen or permanent residence (green card holder)

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong team player skillsProficient in Microsoft  Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Outlook, and Access database)
