Specialist Business Application Support - Operational Applications
Provide business application support to the operations user community and ITS department. Formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
Day to Day Support:
- Analyze business requirements to provide the necessary information for new business processes.
- Serve as the technical expert for operational applications such as Advantex, GIS and meter reading solutions; including all clients(MA, DA, and SA), HDB, ODB, WDS, interfaces with CCS, reporting tools, interfaces and business processes.
- Recommend changes for improvement with an emphasis on automation, process and efficiency.
- Perform new business process and data requirements gathering utilizing system expertise
Relationships:
- Coordinate with technical & functional areas in the research and resolution of system and process problems
- Resolve any issues that cross multiple systems or areas which may affect the business process.
Policies & Procedures
- Follow ITS policies and procedures such as Change Management, PMO methodology and SOX requirements.
- Assist in developing / refining policies and procedures pertaining to operational applications.
Business Support:
- Support application production issues using strong analytical & problem solving skills, and functional/technical expertise.
- Primary support would be for break/fix problems, unless assigned to enhancements.
- Provide business process redesign analysis to support business changes and technology opportunities.
- Make appropriate technical configurations to the applicable systems up to but not including programming modifications.
Project Requirements:
- Coordinate with business in the planning, testing, and implementation of system enhancements in the assigned application area.
- Create and maintain project deliverables such as business requirement documents.
- Research and document business needs.
More than 5 years experience supporting applications in operational and field technologies (mobile workforce, GIS, meter reading, etc.).
More than two years experience in the Advantex mobile workforce management system required, including technical, functional, Advantex workflow, and system configuration. Prior experience serving in a lead role directing the use of the application desired. Previous experience with a multi-subsidiary environment and with integration new operations from legacy systems to assigned application area is preferred.
- Understanding of application development tools, legacy systems integration, business rules definitions, workflow processing, and analytical reporting tools.
- Solid understanding of requirements mapping and analysis, business process reengineering, data structures and software limitations.
- Understanding of appropriate system environment/platform and development tool, dependent on business solution implemented.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and productivity tools (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, project planning, Lotus Notes)
- Understanding of the Information Technology solutions and processes.
