Sr Staff Mechanical Engineer, NPI

Bloom Energy, a fuel cell company and one of Silicon Valley’s most promising startups, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its world class team.  This individual should be a dynamic professional who is looking for a rewarding future in one of today’s most exciting technologies.

As part of the New Product Introduction team you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of various new test stands to support several sub-assembly and sub-system level electromechanical tests. You will be part of the new product introduction group, using your DFT knowledge, and mechanical design creativity to develop test stands for our ramping organization.

Role & Responsibilities:
Lead the following efforts: Design, Develop and Release Assembly and Test Hardware/ToolingDevelop Assembly, and Test processes and documentationTrain Manufacturing personnel on Assembly and Test MethodsProvide engineering support to Product Development, Manufacturing, and Test teams Generate and release part/assembly drawings, and BOMS via ECN/ECO process Improve manufacturing and test processes for manufacturability, test, cost, and rework rates Support supplier development in sourcing of parts, assemblies, and test methods Assist in hiring engineers with the necessary skill sets to release quality and sustainable products

Skills Required:
Understanding of the New Product Introduction process, and ability to drive process improvements Manufacturing Process, and Test development experience Mechanical design experience using SolidWorks (Pro-E a plus) Experience in Design for Testability, or Manufacturability; Serviceability (a plus) Solid knowledge of tooling and metal fabrication techniques; (sheet metal, and welding a plus) Knowledge of statistical techniques for manufacturing process control Understanding of Lean Mfg principles, and continuous improvement methods Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Skills to work effectively within teams, and/or independently in a fast paced environment Ability to effectively train manufacturing personnel on assembly and test methods Strong problem solving skills such as FMEA to resolve manufacturing, or supplier issues

Education and Experience:BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline 4+ yrs working in a NPI/Manufacturing Engineering, or Design Development organization 4+ yrs experience in development and release of Mfg Assy/Test hardware
