Steam Generation Equipment Engineer III-Senior

Job Description:This position is posted from an Engineer III (grade level 11) to a Senior Engineer (grade level 22).This position will be based out of the Columbus, Ohio corporate office and will require 10-20% travel to plants in our Eastern and Western regions.In this role, you will become familiar with the steam generation process in coal and gas fired power plants. Develop the appropriate skills to perform physical inspection of steam boilers and ancillary equipment within the AEP generating fleet, communicate potential problem areas and recommend appropriate repairs. These inspections can at times be physically demanding and can also require working from scaffolding up to 200 feet in the air. Work with plant, OEM and AEP engineering personnel to develop scope, equipment specifications, schedules and cost estimates for repairs and/or replacement of steam boiler pressure parts. Implement repair or replacement plan by obtaining authorization of funds, procurement of materials & equipment, and providing technical support during equipment installations. Develop written reports for equipment or material studies. These may include equipment failure root cause analysis, equipment, material or vendor comparisons and recommendations, etc. utilizing internal and external resources to acquire necessary information.Job Experience:BS in Mechanical Engineering or BS in Welding Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program2-13 years related experience.Previous experience or background with power boilers, heat exchangers and heavy equipment associated with steam generation equipmentEIT/PE preferred. Senior Engineer requires PE.Good verbal and written communication skills. Have a well rounded educational background and a good understanding of thermodynamics and mechanical design.
