Position Description:Chevron Global Supply and Trading is accepting online applications for the position of Strategic Analyst located in Houston, TX and in San Ramon, CA through May 15, 2008.Overview:This position is part of the Business Evaluation and Development group within the Global Supply and Trading organization, which is responsible for developing and prioritizing strategic initiatives for the overall business strategy of the Downstream organization.Openings for this posting include positions in Downstream Business Evaluation and Development’s Strategy & Planning group and Manufacturing & Unconventional group. Depending on the combination of skills a candidate demonstrates, a position in either group may be offered, or an alternate position in the Business Evaluation and Development organization. Preference is to fill the positions in Houston, TX, though consideration will be given for San Ramon, CA.Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:- Actively participates in the Downstream migration path development to translate strategic intents into viable actions. Leverages analytics and visibility across the supply chain to develop fundamental perspectives on the business, including long-term supply-demand balances, evaluation and forecast of industry and competitive landscape, and assessment and prioritization of alternatives.- Works within the BE&D team and in collaboration with functions to develop beliefs about the future business environment and then translates these beliefs into long range and shorter range objectives for implementation Collaborates with functional business unit peers to test opportunities against CVX strategic intents, to prepare financial analyses and resource management plans for development projects, including mergers, acquisitions and divestments, to help establish priorities, and identify necessary resources. - Interfaces with appropriate representatives from internal divisions, outside companies, competitors or government agencies on all “business development” issues related directly or indirectly to S&Ts business initiatives; including but not limited to contracting, internal finance, permitting, licensing, etc. Develop business contacts in order to cultivate business relationships, assess customer needs and to promote and develop projects. - Participates in cross functional projects as subject matter expert, team member, team leader, or Decision Review Board member as appropriate on projects related to integrated supply chain opportunities and/or Global Downstream. Required (Basic) Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Business or Finance.Preferred Qualifications:10 years experience including at least 2 of the following petroleum industry supply chain activities: refining, chemicals, terminalling, trading, logistics/scheduling, marketing.
