Note: Control Room Supervisor, FFS/STA and Work Control Supervisor are functional positions defined in the alignment organization. All of these functional positions are filled by personnel whose title is Control Room Supervisor who fill these functional positions when on shift. All must be SRO licensed or able to be licensed when in the pipeline. STA’s are not required to be licensed SROs.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise the activities of the control room staff and the building operators on the appointed shift through all conditions of start up, shutdown power generation, and emergency Assume the responsibilities and authorities of the Shift Manager in the control room should the Shift Manager not be present during transient or accident conditions Install jumpers & lifted leads in accordance with the applicable EOPs in the absence of I&C personnel Be thoroughly familiar with and adhere to the conditions and limitations of the station operating license, technical specifications, operating procedures, and all other applicable regulations Be thoroughly familiar with routine operating data, reports, and logs that are required to be maintained and ensure their completion by the eng of the shift; review and evaluate the data to assure safe operation Periodically evaluate line up deviations which are greater than 6 months Determine the circumstances, analyze the cause and recommend to the Shift Manager that station operation can proceed safely before the reactor is returned to power following a plant trip or an unscheduled or unexplained power reduction Be present for the assigned shift in the control room or on tour within the plant if relieved by the Shift Manager Believe and respond to instrument indications unless proven to be incorrect Assist the Shift Manager in planning, coordinating, and improving all facets of plant operations Maintain a Senior Reactor Operator License Inform the Shift Manager of any abnormal conditions or changes to plant status and ensure initiation corrective actions Perform the role of Senior Reactor Operator for core alts Assist the Shift Manager in completing performance evaluations of assigned personnel Reduce reactor power or shutdown the reactor when the safety of the reactor is in jeopardy or when operating parameters exceed reactor protection set points and automatic shutdown does not occur Recommend changes in plant procedures, personnel, operation, and equipment status to maximize plant and personnel efficiency Interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements for Control Room Supervisor are defined in NUREG 1021 and INPO ACAD 00-003, Rev. 1 Guidelines for Initial Training and Qualification of Operators. Candidates must be currently Senior Reactor Operator licensed or meet these requirements for initial license: Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation BS Degree in Engineering or Sciences generally associated with nuclear power plant operations is highly desired but not required if NUREG 1021 and ACAD 00-003 are met

Desired Qualifications:

At least 2 years experience in operations. Proficiency with current computer business applications. Outstanding communication and conflict management skills.

 

This position requires bench strength. Those employees not currently assigned to shift may be assigned to functional positions within Operations as necessary to maintain adequate bench strength.
