About the Opportunity Candidates will be required to have a working knowledge of the Mechanical Maintenance, Yard, Production Departments, with an extensive experience in the Mechanical Maintenance area. Duties may include: overseeing and directing operations or maintenance activities for plant generating units and associated equipment related to each discipline. Monitor activities of bargaining unit employees and enforce conformance to established work practices, rules, methods and policies; implement instruction and training of section employees in the established work practices, methods and policies; requisitions and coordinate necessary equipment, tools, materials and supplies in a timely manner; coordinate work with other departments and sections; request and coordinate equipment and outages as required; monitor and document work habits of individual employees; counsel employees as necessary; conduct field surveys and prepare sketches and estimates of material and labor required in planning for various construction and maintenance activities; provide technical support for section employees. Maintain close working relationships with other management personnel to maximize operation performance, such as equivalent availability, heat rate, and start-up time. Conduct work so that all employees, equipment and public are properly safeguarded.

Qualifications

Two-year technical degree in Applied Science (related field) or the equivalent in a combination of career experience and training.

Possess knowledge of Federal, State and Regulatory policies and procedures in reference to Environmental, Safety and Labor agreements.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Knowledge, training and experience should be at the advanced level in one or more of these following areas: Possess a working knowledge of power plant layout and construction, knowledge of Fuel Handling Operations and Maintenance, knowledge of electric utility generating power plant operations to include boilers, turbines, generators and associated control and auxiliary equipment.

Knowledge of mechanical maintenance equipment to include but not limited to pumps, turbines, boilers, compressors, gear boxes, piping, valves, pulverizers, etc.

Knowledge of electrical maintenance practices and procedures in regards to equipment and voltage.

Must have effective written and oral communications and strong interpersonal skills.

Must be able to work shift schedules, temporary schedules, Holidays, weekends and overtime.
