About the Opportunity This position is responsible for Transmission System Vegetation Management activities in the PA and NJ FirstEnergy operating companies to insure operational performance and compliance with NERC requirements. Included is the direct supervision of Forestry Specialists and administrative support, the management of scheduled transmission corridor clearing, conducting annual transmission line vegetation inspections, new transmission construction clearing. Responsible for contract administration to insure adherence to FirstEnergy Vegetation Management Specifications, implement and manage the FirstEnergy Transmission Vegetation Management work planning process, environmental permitting, administration of the Quality Check Audit Process, assisting the Forestry Specialists with landowner refusals and complaints and providing forestry expertise in legal matters regarding vegetation clearing on or adjacent to FirstEnergy's transmission system.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must hold a degree in a forestry related field, be a certified forester or arborist and possess a herbicide application license.

Demonstrated strong ability to communicate and work with Regional Forestry and Area Manager Staffs', Corporate Forestry staff, forestry vendors, and State and Federal and other land resource agencies.

This position requires travel throughout the FirstEnergy System, with predominant travel throughout PA and NJ as needs require. Must be available for frequent overnight trips to areas within the service territory.

Must be available to support storm restoration efforts as needed.

Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office products and have a demonstrated ability to learn new applications. Preferred knowledge of SAP, PowerOn Remote Dispatch, CREWS, AM/FM, Map Frame.

The individual must exercise independent judgment on moderately complex projects and assignments.

Must have the ability to build relationships and credibility, and provide staff support to management and higher levels of professionals, as needed.
