The Supervisor, Measurement Communications is responsible for the technical integrity of the data system infrastructure including providing technical support and direction to the Sr. Automation Technicians. In conjunction with the Telecommunication Engineers, develops and manages the communication network capital budget including the procurement and installation of hardware necessary for gas measurement electronic data communication and well-head automation. Ensures optimization of communications infrastructure and capacity for future growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversees and directs the Sr. Automation Specialists’ tasks associated with the monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of communication systems.
* Ensures the flow of accurate information from the remote devices to the end users.
* Develops and executes plan to optimize performance of telecommunications infrastructure and decrease communication expenses.
* Assists in the creation of short- and long-term telecommunications strategies and the associated implementation plans based on the existing assets, business unit growth strategy, cost of service and best available technology.
* Aids in the execution of plan, including vendor and contract management.
* Contributes in the development of and management of the communication capital budget and O&M expenditures.
* Trains internal employees and contractors on current and new technologies.
* Develops and documents company design standards (including drawings and bills of material) as well as approved vendor lists.
* Evaluates new communication technologies and the applicability of such technologies to Equitable’s infrastructure.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a closely related field; and
* At least three years of related experience; OR
* An equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with various industry protocols and standards like DNP, MODBUS, RS-232, Ethernet and fiber optic communication.
* Experience with data communications technologies including land line (phone), cell phone, radio and satellite.
* Knowledge of gas engineering principles and gas measurement standards including AGA 3, AGA 7, AGA 9, and the National Electric Code.
* Knowledge of field RTU’s and meter interface technologies.
* Project management experience preferred.
* Supervisory experience preferred.
