Tax Director, FAS 109

Calpine owns, leases and operates integrated systems of fuel-efficient natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power plants. Calpine is needing a Director in their Tax department with particular expertise, knowledge and experience in FAS 109.Duties and Responsibilities:1.Responsible for identifying, analyzing and resolving tax issues and their financial impacts on a wide range of transactions and global business initiatives.2.Assists in defining and implementing the companys global tax strategies and maintaining its global tax architecture.3.Responsible for the calculations of the preparation of consolidated worldwide annual and quarterly tax provisions in accordance with FAS 109.4.Prepare tax footnote disclosures in accordance with FAS 109 for parent and stand alone subsidiaries financial statements.5.Analyze major income tax accounts and prepare monthly reconciliation of subsidiary accounts to general ledger.6.Manage FAS 109 and Sarbanes-Oxley.7.Work with the Director of International Tax to assist the Vice President of Tax on strategic tax planning initiatives.8.Thorough understanding of the Corporate Tax software system for income tax provision preparation in accordance with FAS 109. QualificationsRequirements:1. BS degree in Accounting or Finance, with advanced degree in Taxation a plus. CPA essential. 2. Expertise in FAS 109 accounting for income taxes for large consolidated multi-state/multinational companies. 3. Strong relationship and organizational skills. 4. Good understanding of tax matters related to M&A, divestitures and financing transactions. 5.  Proficiency with Excel spreadsheet and word processing software, thorough knowledge of the Corporate Tax System tax provision module.6. Minimum of 7-10 years tax management experience with strong understanding of FAS 109.   7.  Basic understanding of multinational and multi-state business issues. powerful performers Calpine is a leading independent power producer in the United States, delivering clean, reliable energy to a power hungry nation.
