This position may be filled as a Telecommunications Tech I or II depending on the chosen candidate’s education and experience level.

 

Perform a variety of Telecommunications tasks, either independently or under supervision. Focus is on the operation and maintenance of voice and transmission systems. Supported systems include: PBX; fiber optic; 800 mhz (trunked) radio; microwave radio both analog and digital; and other support equipments for voice and data communications.

 

Education:

High School Diploma required. Associate’s Degree, Vocational graduate, or 5 years "in-field" experience in telecommunications or a related field. Successful results on the EEI TECH test required.

 

Required Skills: Understanding of or experience with a trunked radio system is desiredPBX or Key telephone system experienceExperience with fiber optic systems, digital microwave operations, and digital transmission theory is preferredExperience in provisioning and testing DS-1 and DS-3 circuits is desired Must be able to work extended hours and respond to callouts as required by the supervisor Must present a professional appearance at work and possess strong work ethicsAdequate computer skills to perform daily workApplicant must possess safe driving skills
