Transmission Joint Venture Accounting and Budgeting Analyst

Responsible for project accounting and budgeting on transmission joint ventures.

Overall purpose of this position is to facilitate budgeting, financial reporting, and project management related thereto. Implementing processes, coordinating multidisciplinary groups (i.e, engineering, design, construction, accounting, tax, finance, cash management) to implement joint venture financial requirements and goals. Detailed knowledge of budgeting system for updating and variance reporting.

1. Responsible for business relationship between regulated accounting group and JV business manager. Review and coordinate with corporate accounting preparation of books and records of the JV companies including monthly internal and external packages for both AEP and its JV partners.


2. Prepare necessary reports for project lenders required by debt covenants.


3. Review accounting procedures to ensure that the contract terms are accurately reflected in the general ledger.


4. Required to have an understanding of a variety of project contracts and documents (all JV Agreements) along with the understanding of the process used to allocate overheads for financial statement purposes and budget purposes. 


5. Manage the detailed preparation and integrity of budgeting, variance reporting, and internal financial reporting.


6. Responsible for coordination and assistance with external and regulatory reporting.


7 Develop the efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes supporting the transmission joint ventures. Develop, utilize and maintain tools and relevant data for analytical models. Monitor events for probable financial impact on short term or long term earnings of the joint ventures.

 Minimum Requirements:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, engineering with an MBA orexperience in a related field.

Experience: Minimum of five years of electric utility or related power experience in budgeting, accounting, financial analysis, asset management and development.Proven oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient using financial software (Peoplesoft) and presentation software such as PowerPoint. Knowledge of transmission markets a plus. Detail oriented and familiar with the corporate, planning and budgeting system.
