For more information, visit dayzim.com.TITLE: Unit ControllerPOSITION SUMMARY:This position is responsible for the proper reporting, forecasting, budgeting and financial controls for the Day & Zimmermann NPS (DZNPS) Unit of the D&Z Power Group. Partner with President, DZNPS and Operational Vice Presidents to support business decisions based on accurate and timely financial information and key performance indicators. Hire, develop and retain a talented staff in order meet the Unit’s objectives. Expected Travel is approximately 25%.DZNPS is a leading nation-wide union labor contractor specializing in performing full-service maintenance, modifications, and construction services at nuclear and fossil-fueled power plants. DZNPS is one of the largest O&M contractors in the U.S. Power industry with more than 25 active clients at more than 60 locations. Expected 2008 Revenues – Approximately $550MESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Keep President and Operational Controller DZPS advised on deviations from G&P plan and cause of change in Net Contribution, Hurdle Rates, and Overhead/G&A Rates, any significant reduction or increase in backlog, significant receivables impacts, any deviations from mission statement or normal scopes of work, any deviations from corporate policy including GAAP.Concise, Timely, effective analysis and reporting of financial and operating performance to the President, DZNPS. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting.Generate and Review financial forecasts, while accessing risks, exposures, and opportunities with Operational Controller, DZPS, Unit President and Operational Vice Presidents. Review performance and adequacy of Results Analysis on all active contracts with emphasis on Firm Fixed Price contracts per corporate policy.Oversee the financial activities of all remote sites and field locations with a primary focus and concentration specific to A/R collections and activities, billings, audits, cost control, project profitability, and legal and insurance risk. This is achieved through dotted line reporting relationships, continuous communication, and site visits. Setting of performance standards and achievement goals for staff. Measure progress against set goals, conduct annual and semi-annual reviews and provide feedback. Initiate and propose projects to reduce costs and increase profitability within the business unit.Provide effective and compliant management of the unit’s general ledger accounts. This is achieved through oversight and review of the account analysis, reconciliation, and audits using established accounting principles and protocols such as GAAP and FASB. Coordinate with Operational Controller, DZPS and influence other staff units, (Accounting, Purchasing, Billing, A/P, A/R, and Tax) to meet the initiatives and performance factors of the unit.Maintaining the unit’s fiscal integrity through strong oversight, and continuous improvement of all financial controls, measurements and systems.Be a business partner in supporting improved business operations, develop value added reports and metrics, and provide proposal input in coordination with the Operational Controller, DZPS.Oversee the Workers Compensation accounting and controls for the combined policy of the group. Ensure adequate accruals.Assure that operations are conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct and applicable law and regulation; take lead roles in corrective action necessary to restore conformity with ethical and compliance standards; serve as role models and actively foster employee awareness of and commitment to the Code.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:Proven knowledge and understanding of accounting and finance. Effective verbal, presentation and written communication skills at all levels of management. Ability to assess, isolate and prioritize critical issues.Able to interface with a variety of personalities and agendas.Effectively lead and direct financial activities that encompass complex issues.Ability to respond to multiple discipline requirements with financial guidance, recognizing the potential impact on the unit’s results.Recognition of Government cost accounting standards and FAR provisionsBachelors Degree required, MBA preferredWork experience, 10+ years Industry experience, 10+ years
