Utility Maintenance Worker 1
Under general supervision of the Utilities Supervisor or more experienced Utilities Operator to perform various job tasks in support of the activities and operations of the Utilities Division of the Public Works Department. Performs routine manual labor tasks; assists work crews performing a variety of customer service tasks; reads, repairs, replaces water meters and meter boxes; connects, disconnects and final reads meters; assist customers with low water pressure, taste & odor, high usage and/or issues related to the quality of the drinking water; provides assistance with Cross-Connection/Backflow Prevention Program including other regulatory programs as appropriate; files paperwork and tracks inventory of water meters and parts; works as a team member in the repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines; cleans and maintains tools, equipment, and all work areas. Uses various hand tools such as shovels, picks, wrenches, pipe cutters, concrete and gas-powered saws, leak detectors, and blow torch. Drives pickup and dump trucks; loads and hauls sand, dirt, and debris. Prepares required forms and paperwork. Works overtime hours when assigned. Responsible to learn department procedures and safety practices and to obtain the necessary licensing.

Hours
7:00 am-4:30 pm Monday through Thursday
7:00 am-3:30 pm Friday, every other Friday off

Salary
$11.35/hr + Great Benefits!!

Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
One year related work experience.
Good work history.
Ability to read and comprehend oral and written instructions.
Ability to add, subtract, and multiply whole numbers and to complete required paperwork.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees and to deal tactfully and pleasantly with others.
Must maintain residential telephone.
Valid Texas Drivers' License.
Eight-hour Confined Space Entry Class will be required within six months of hire as condition of continued employment.
Heavy physical labor requires physical strength and agility. Must be able to lift 95 pounds.
