VP of Project Managers

 

Our Company is a major global supplier of technology solutions and services to the Power Industry.   We design, supply, and manage site construction of steam generation equipment for large combined–cycle power plants.   With less than 100 US based employees each individual has an opportunity to use his/her skills and common sense to truly have an affect on the success of the organization.  Our Vice President of Project Managers is a working executive who leads a team of Project Managers and Document Control personnel, Scheduling, Technical Advisors and Aftermarket personnel.  .  The VP of PM’s reports directly to the US CEO.

 

 

 Primary Responsibilities include providing leadership to the team which includes the Project Management department, including planning, construction technical advisors, document control and aftermarket functions;

 Review and evaluation of project execution plans to identify areas, including project quality requirements, where additional input is required to assure the project implementation is achieved with acceptable risk. 

 Claims Management. 

 Manage risk through interface with Supply Management, Quality Assurance and Engineering to identify all potential risks and to develop contingency planning to mitigate risks;  

 Develop and maintain business metrics to monitor and improve project performance and control; to include project schedules and  financial control systems.

 Participate in and lead the development of negotiation strategies. ________________________________________________________________________

 Assure the development, implementation and compliance of a document control system

 Manage the Aftermarket sales and services to assure the success of current project and the capacity to book future projects;

 Represent Project Management in Quality Council Meetings;

 Develop and maintain a Project “Lessons Learned” and Customer Feedback program and provide this information to all departments.

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

 

·        Manage a group of Project Managers, Planning, Document Control and Aftermarket personnel to insure their personal development in the organization, including salary administration, performance reviews and training requirements;

 

·        Develop/provide the necessary tools to promote quality, efficiency and productivity in order to meet business objectives and goals;

 

·        Develop handbooks (e.g. Site Handbook for Inexperienced TAs) to provide guidance, direction and consistency in performance for inexperienced personnel;

 

·        Facilitate the harmonization of project management functions between companies

 Develop and insure compliance with organizational processes and procedures;

 Promote and implement Continuous Improvement objectives.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management or equivalent

 

Fifteen (15) years experience in the industrial/utility steam generation industry, including ten (10) years in Project Management.

Demonstrated claims management and mitigation experience.  Demonstrated history of successful negotiation and administration of complex contracts

 

 

PMP Certification required.  Will be required to achieve and maintain PMP certification within one year of hire and maintain that certification through continuing education

 

Dynamic management style demonstrated by the ability to lead people, provide mentoring 

 

Some travel required, sometimes of short notice, including international travel

 

LOCATION:  Western PA

SALARY RANGE:  115k-140k plus 30% bonus opportunity
