Vice President, Utility Group Job Requirements The VP of the Utility Group will be responsible for aggressively growing SunPower’s leadership in the large-scale multi-mega watt PV power plant sector by leading the development of projects, closing of transactions, and the development of long term client relationships. He/She will expand and lead the Utility Group within SunPower’s North American Systems Business Unit. He/She will build on SunPower’s global leadership in the solar power plant segment and develop strategies, tactics, key relationships with utilities and project developers and financiers, and project opportunities. In addition, he/she will help drive legislation to promote the development of large scale PV projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.o Meeting national sales goals o Selecting and driving to conclusion $50M to $1B opportunities and transactions o Developing and filtering “real” opportunities o Developing tactical execution plans for coverage of priority accounts and assigning quotas to staff o Marshalling resources inside and outside SunPower to execute on proposals, transactions, and communications o Researching and analyzing potential markets and segments to develop accurate sales goals o Tracking and driving policy developments and opportunities to best capitalize on target markets, partners, and strategies o Developing and presenting customer focused product and service presentations o Working with Structured Finance team to insure best financial product offering o Working with in-house counsel to develop contract terms o Analyzing impact of changing regulatory environment on sales strategies and modifying plans, as necessary o Staffing and performance management of the national Team o Developing training and development goals for national Team o Planning, structuring, and implementing transactions Qualifications o Tenacious problem solver –can accurately assess, solve, implement, and communicate outcomes of problems o Knowledge with securing permits, interconnection rights, transmission capacity, state regulatory approvals, FERC approvals, building permits, environmental permits o Experience with local land owners to secure land for project development, as required o Proven ability to adapt to change in a calm and measured manner o Proven ability to position a company or interest group to win in competitive situations o Proven leader and manager with demonstrated strategic and tactical planning and execution experience o Understanding of project finance BOOM/BOOT models and structures o Understanding of proforma economics o Proven ability to negotiate and close complex sales agreements o Highly effective communicator: Can craft & present excellent written presentations & analyze data to support arguments. Can create, summarize, and present information logically, for executive decision-making o ‘Intellectual horsepower’ – must be very comfortable with financial / business concepts and Exce and use knowledge of finance / business concepts (NPV, ROI, IRR, etc; as well as internal management metrics) to align customer goals with SUNPOWER goals o Passion for solar; conceptual understanding of solar in general & ability to see potential for solar & Energy Efficiency in customer situation o Optimistic outlook / “can-do” attitude o Customer management & project management experience, knowledge, & training o Highly detail-oriented Education and Experience o MBA, or related business degree, or equivalent experience o 10 years minimum electric industry experience, preferably in renewable energy o Standing relationships with senior utility managers and key companies o Experience with utility project development and creative structure development o Experience with Independent Power Producer (IPP) developmentTo apply visit: http://www.sunpowercorp.com/About-Us/Careers.aspx
