Description:
The Senior Wind Resource Engineer will be a member of the newly formed Global Wind Resource Group in my Client’s firm.  The Wind Resource function incorporates wind resource assessment services in support of commercial project development throughout the exploration, measurement, layout design, permitting, financing, construction and operational phases.

Roles & Responsibilities:
The Senior Engineer will function at the project level in coordination with multiple Project Development Teams.  In this role, the commercial project developers are internal “customers”, and day to day priorities will be aligned to meet their needs.  The procedures and standards, however, will be set within the Wind Resource Group.

Primary responsibilities include site prospecting, specification of the meteorological data measurement programs, quality assurance and analysis of the data collected to produce wind resource assessments.  The Senior Engineer is also responsible for machine layout design, ensuring that the available wind resource is fully utilized and that the machines are placed to attain a long and productive life.

The Senior Engineer will be expected to liaise with various contractors and consultants, ensuring that the company receives quality information and that once received the information is properly stored and catalogued.

 

Experience:
At least five years of direct wind assessment and project design experience required. Experience in a third-party due diligence role will be considered favorably.  A graduate degree in engineering or meteorology is required.

Competencies:

Good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel required, Access a plus.

Must be highly skilled in reading terrain maps and in using compass and GPS.

Experience with GIS-based applications is desired.

Working knowledge of WAsP & WindFarmer or their equivalent is required.
