Advance Manf. Engineering Manager

General Function

Designs, improves and develops next generation and current valve train products to support the growth and diversification of The Valve Train Groups product offering. 

Develops and Manages projects to support Plant Initiatives for Cost Reduction and Operational / Quality Improvement; in Lean, 5S and associated projects

Develops and maintains the company’s capacity map. Coordinates where-made decisions for new business

Develop, implement and update the manufacturing technology roadmap

Develops Capital Expenditure Plans and Budgets

 

Job Responsibilities

Assisting assigned product teams, process improvements, machine optimization, daily troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions, daily interaction with production personnel (supervisors, leads, etc.) and ergonomic improvements.

Coordinates and guides engineering and technical facets of assignments in the area of obtaining and organizing informational data and analyzing and resolving problems.

Using research of advanced technology, developing proposals for automation, mechanization, methods, special tooling, machine attachments, etc., for the purpose of cost reduction.

Oversees the production, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of automation equipment.

Daily support, monitoring, and enhancement to existing multivariable advanced control applications.

Process analysis for process control project feasibility determination.

Process review and close coordination with Process Engineering and Operations for assigned area of responsibility.

Provide design and support to development of new unit and multi-unit optimization applications.

Project Manager to support development of various type applications with machine vendors.

Implement and maintain applications needed to support advanced control and optimization programs.

Directs and coordinates activities of IT Department.

Consults with management to determine data processing requirements.

Applies knowledge of system capacity to determine feasibility of projects. Maintains current knowledge of new hardware and software and recommends upgrading to maintain efficient operation.

Schedules and assigns work to IT staff.

 

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment.

Overtime is required, either before or after the normal starting times and on weekends.  

Travel domestically and internationally up to 35%.

 

Physical Component(S)

Standing and walking up to 50% of work time.

 

Education and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.M.E. preferred) from a four-year college or university and 7 years of experience in automotive valve train design or development. 

 

Skill Specifications

Ability to work independently toward assigned objectives with minimal supervision.
