Please go to www.saic.com/career, create a profile, and attach it to Requisition #114556.JOB DESCRIPTION: The Aerospace Engineer will work in the area of Safety, Reliability and Quality Assurance to assist the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate (SA) at the KSC in the Launch Vehicle Processing area. The employee will report to the SAIC Safety Engineering Lead at KSC and to the KSC S&MA Manager residing at KSC. Duties assigned will include, but not limited to the following: • Provide reliability/maintainability support of ground systems, facilities and flight vehicle technical reviews for KSC/DFRC/VAFB and other future designated launch sites. • Assist in the development of reliability and maintainability engineering related documents for KSC programs and projects. • Conduct reliability and maintainability analyses and assessments of selected design, operational and flow processing problems, prepare reports and presentations with recommendations for improvement. • Prepare and review SAA’s, Safety and Reliability Assessments, FMEA’s, Process FMEA’s and CIL’s in support of facilities, ground systems and flight hardware analysis. • Assist in the development of maintenance requirements and assess adequacy of tests and inspections critical to reliability and maintainability. • Provide support to the development of SMA Directorate strategic planning in the area of Reliability and Maintainability. • Support the development and execution of innovative and emerging SMA technical/management processes to support Reliability and Maintainability activities. REQUIRED SKILLS: 2-5 years of experience in systems, reliability, and maintainability analysis. Experience should include participation in the development and assurance of complex systems preferably related to space systems. Technical knowledge of aerospace systems design and development required to ensure the safety, reliability, and maintainability of systems. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. DESIRED SKILLS: Reliability Engineering, or Engineering with a safety and/or reliability emphasis are a plus. Involvement in professional organizations such as safety or reliability is desired. EDUCATION: BS or equivalent in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, etc), Reliability Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related technical discipline is required. This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment.
