Architectural Historian - Historic Research

Bachelors degree in architectural history, historic preservation, or closely related field and directly related professional or educational experience in cultural resource management (CRM) including:- Historic property research methodology- Writing and preparing architectural descriptions and historic contexts- Conducting primary and secondary research in variety of repositories and archives- Familiarity with standard computer equipment and programs Job Description : URS Seeks qualified architectural historians to assist with Phase One of a multi-year project to assist with National Historic Preservation Act / Section 106 responsibilities related to a grant program providing assistance to homeowners. Project will last a guaranteed minimum of six months with a strong probability of continuing for up to one additional year. Successful candidates will live in proximity to, and work in, Jackson, Mississippi during their tenure on the job. Candidates who are interested in assignments of at least 90 days are encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity for hands-on experience in the historic preservation field with one of the country's leading CRM firms. Primary work responsibilities will include working as part of a team conducting historic community and property (primarily residences) research in the four counties most damaged by Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi. Work will be in a team environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.
