CADD DESIGNER (Senior)

SUMMARY: Duties for the CADD Designer VI position include the operation of CADD work stations, plotters, printers, and other associated equipment to develop designs for environmental and infrastructure projects including investigations, assessments, engineering studies, designs, and construction-phase services.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Work with engineers and scientists to develop designs for environmental and infrastructure projects. Develop and prepare engineering design drawings for pumping station, force main, water and wastewater treatment plant. Develop and draft detailed design drawings for equipment installation, building structures, underground and aboveground piping, manholes, tanks, landfills, etc. Develop and draft detailed mechanical, instrumentation, and process design drawings that include equipment, process piping, flow diagrams, etc. Support the preparation of engineering reports, cost estimates, specifications, construction schedules, and designs for projects. Familiar with steel, ductile iron and PVC piping standards and their support structures. Capable of taking field measurements and develop as-build drawings   QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Certificate from a college or technical school indicating CADD proficiency. Associate degree in Drafting/CADD preferred. Relevant experience required for this position –10 years minimum.   OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good working knowledge of the following software: AutoCAD 2008, Microstation (latest version), Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat. GIS ArcView knowledge a plus. Ability to work on and prioritize a variety of technical assignments and complete work on schedule to the satisfaction of the requestor. Also required to supervise and mentor CADD drafters.   COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as databases, field notes,  reports, specifications, maps, and engineering drawings. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients.   MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with basic engineering and mathematical concepts and principles and apply those concepts to design development.   REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply logical and technical understanding to carry out instructions received in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
