CONSTRUCTION MANAGER II

The Construction Manager will lead a team in the management of the construction program and have the overall responsibility for administering the requirements of the Contract.   A degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience working in the construction or construction management environment in a leadership position is required.  Must have experience in airport, industrial or institutional construction.  General Contracting background a plus.  Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Primavera Project Planner and MS Outlook is required.  The successful candidate must be highly dedicated, reliable, trustworthy, conscientious and punctual.

 

Duties and tasks associated with monitoring and enforcing construction contract requirements on behalf of the City of Wichita and the Wichita Aviation Authority as it pertains to the Construction Management of projects at Wichita Midcontinent Airport include, but are not limited to the following:

 

·  Responsible for the day to day management of the construction management staff, airport stakeholder management and overall contractor compliance with the construction contract(s).

 

·  Ensure the construction is prosecuted in an efficient and safe manner that protects the public, workers and airport staff.

 

·  Act as the point of contact with the Design team for interpretation of contract documents, clarifications of design conflicts or discrepancies.

 

·  Ensure that contract administration functions are properly executed and monitor turnaround times for all issues.

 

·  Evaluation of changes submitted by the Designer or Owner to determine the impact of the change to the overall budget and schedule.  Work with entities involved to explore alternatives that may mitigate time or cost impacts.

 

·  Determine merit of changes and impact mitigation submitted by the Contractor utilizing analysis provided by staff.

 

·  Lead the negotiations of time, cost and impact mitigation with the Contractor on all changes to the contract documents.

 

·  Prepare and submit project reports on a regular schedule that illustrate the performance of the construction compared to established metrics.
