GEOMET Technologies chemical Defense Laboratory is in need of Analytical Chemists.

 

GEOMET Technologies Chemical Defense Laboratory is a declared Schedule 1 Chemical Facility, and specializes in Research & Development testing of protective equipment with Chemical Warfare Agents (CWA) and Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TIC). Protective equipment includes garment materials, filter components, detector systems, and DECON compounds. GEOMET Technologies LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Versar, Inc.

 

Job Description:

We are looking for an Associate Chemist to work on multiple R&D testing projects specific to our customers’ needs. The candidate will begin as an analytical chemist and expected to grow to become a principal chemist managing R&D projects. The candidate must be competent with hands-on laboratory practices, and have an excellent understanding of Chemistry (Organic, Physical, & Analytical).

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Primary duties will focus on quantitative and qualitative analysis of dilute samples with GC & GC/MS. Experience with LC, IC, & MINICAMS is a plus. Secondary duties include assisting Hazardous Materials Testing Staff with NEAT CWA testing.

 

The position also supports domestic & international Chemical Warfare Demilitarization programs. Chemist will be responsible for calibration and maintenance of MINICAMS (training available if needed). Temporary assignments as an analytical chemist are available in Japan and other international location for durations of 18 to 90 days.

 

Experience/Skills Requirements:

 

0-10 years analytical chemistry experience

 

Experience with chromatography Analysis (GC, LC, IC). Excellent attention to detail, as well as, communication skills both written and spoken (English) is needed. Must be a US citizen capable of achieving a SECRET Security Clearance. Must be clearable to GEOMET’s chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) regarding use/handling of Chemical Warfare Agents

 

Preferred experience with LC, IC, FTIR, AA, and other analytical techniques. Experience with MINICAMS and CWA’s & TIC’s preferred. Willingness to accept temporary international assignments (mostly Japan).

 

Education Requirement:

BS in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
