Forum Nokia Technical Services and Consultancy provides world class application development consultancy services to 3rd party developer companies. For each technology area (ie. S60 Symbian C++, Java, Web etc.) a dedicated Chief Engineer has the overall technology responsibility. Chief Engineer needs to know the tehnology deeply and be recognized internally and externally as mobile development “guru”.

Following technology roadmaps and development of web technologies is a key task. Making sure that the level of knowledge on relevant matters is at a high level in Forum Nokia is a relevant part of the job. Knowledge sharing is of high importance and being very vocal inside Nokia and externally about mobile development is expected, e.g. by participating in relevant events. Chief Engineer will be working closely with Forum Nokia teams, Devices R&D teams and Services & Software Chief Architects and R&D teams.

Your Masters degree in a technical discipline is complemented by minimum of 10 years of experience. High degree of independence. Demonstrates strategic thinking, assumes broad perspective. Designs and/or develops original programs, projects, content for functional subject areas if needed. Manages implementation/utilization through other organization resources. Very proactive attitude. Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Wide and deep technology understanding in mobile and Internet technologies. Understanding new technologies and standars and how they will be reflected to our smartphone platforms. Years of experience in programming (Web 2.0 (f.ex AJAX type of solutions), C++, Java, preferably also Flash) and in designing and implementing E2E solutions. Understanding of different E2E/distributed architectural choices and how those can be adopted to mobile environment is a key factor. Good architectural understanding of S60 (and Series 40 and Linux based systems like Maemo) will definitely help in order to achieve the goals of a Chief Engineer.

Nokia Corp. posted a 44% jump in fourth-quarter 2007 net profit as it outpaced rivals in the increasingly tough mobile-phone market.Strong sales in emerging markets helped boost 2007 net profit 44 percent in the period and saw the Finnish company capture more than 40 percent of the global handset market -- an all-time best and long-term goal. Total profits in 2007 reached 7.2 billion euros ($10.6 billion), up 67 percent from the year before, while sales jumped 24 percent to 51 billion euros ($74.8 billion), Nokia said. It sold 437 million handsets last year, 26 percent more than in 2006.
