Our client, a well established engineering firm is currently seeking a Chief Milling Engineer. 

 

We are looking for an experienced Milling Engineer to work in Lehigh County, PA.  This individual will be reporting to the Vice President of the Operational Support Group.  Individuals should expect to travel regularly, working closely with plant leadership, staff members and international suppliers.  This individual will report to the Vice President of the Operational Support Group and will be working closely with plant leadership.

Job Responsibilities:

Ø  Manage of the Milling Department

Ø  Manage, train and schedule all other Mill Engineers.

Ø  Manage and direct the performance of theoretic process studies on grinding systems for limestone, slag, coal, clinker, additives and secondary raw materials/fuels regarding energy/material balances, expected process parameters, mechanic installation concepts and software interlocking requirements.

Ø  Manage and direct the development, evaluation, and recommendation of technical solutions for equipment selection, equipment sizing, equipment and/or process modification to achieve lower operating, installation and production costs and/or higher production quality.

Ø  Manage and direct the performance of field process studies on existing grinding systems for the a.m. materials including all necessary field measurements and instrumentation adjustments.

Ø  Based on a comparison of theoretic parameters and measured values identify quality and process fluctuations and influences on the operations, identify technical problems and bottlenecks and propose solutions to the cement plant process department or project department in order to optimize the grinding system/grinding equipment.

Ø  Supervise/analyze the quality control in grinding plants by performing control sampling, cross-checking the laboratory equipment calibration and suggesting improvements to optimize the product quality.

Ø  Prepare an economic evaluation on recommended equipment, equipment modifications or process modifications and create specifications for the purchase of equipment and equipment modifications.

Ø  Train Engineers in Training on accomplishing the above tasks.

Ø  Coordinate training and generate guidelines for Mining Engineers in the various faculties.

Ø  Review manufacturer’s equipment specifications and performance guarantees/warranties for comparison to company equipment specifications.

Ø  Lead the field installation, field commissioning, start-up, field optimization and performance testing of newly installed or modified milling equipment.

Ø  Emergency trouble shooting for grinding plants in the field or by telecommunication.

Ø  Knowledge about use and preparation of secondary fuels and materials in the cement manufacturing processes.

Ø  Analyze and assist in rectifying environmental situations in milling plants by carrying out field inspections/measurements and/or design of environmental protection equipment.

Ø  Manage the generation, checking and updating of milling software interlocking systems/sequences to improve the operation and the safety in grinding systems/plants. Manage the programming, field installation, signal testing, commissioning and optimization of the milling software interlockings.

Ø  Perform classroom and field training for plant and company personnel on process parameters, process calculations, energy/material balances, field measurements and their interpretation, instrumentation, control systems and all grinding plant related issues.

 

Key Skills and Qualifications include:

Ø  University/College degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree.

Ø  Minimum of 10 years of comminution process design engineering, employee training and practical field experience in commissioning and plant auditing within the cement producing industry. International experience and field engineer experience is preferred.

Ø  Knowledge of cement chemistry, cement manufacturing, related processes and equipment.

Ø  Knowledge of quality control methods, laboratory equipment and its calibration for ground materials in the cement industry.

Ø  Detailed knowledge on grinding systems for limestone, slag, coal, cement clinker, additives and secondary raw materials/fuels using tube mills, vertical roller mills, roller presses and classifiers for semi-finish and finish grinding systems. Specialized in state-of-the-art grinding system utilizing Vertical Roller mills and/or Roller Presses.

Ø  Knowledge of storage and blending methods of truck/rail delivered raw materials and intermediate products

Ø  Detailed knowledge of design and sizing of material transport, flow measurement and dosing devices as used in the cement producing industry.

Ø  Knowledge of environmental protective equipment as used in the cement producing industry; its design, sizing, commissioning and adjustment.

Ø  Continuous improvement of knowledge regarding comminution process, process measuring equipment and cost optimization methods by using international resources.

Ø  Continuous improvement in the use of computer/related software and other office tools

Ø  Skilled in the use of personal computers and the Windows Office software package.

Ø  Skilled and experienced in the preparation of and giving presentations to an international audience.

Ø  Willingness to travel frequently, including international travel.

Ø  Willingness to work under field conditions while traveling.

Ø  Willingness to accept International assignments for relocation

Ø  Ability to work as a team member, as well as individually, on complex issues while using TQA tools.

Ø  Willingness to be creative and make decisions based on minimal available data.

Ø  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English. Additional knowledge of the German language is helpful.
