Coastal Engineer

Moffatt & Nichol has an opportunity for a Coastal Engineer in their Walnut Creek (San Francisco Bay Area) office.  Description of duties include: Preparing coastal/hydraulic engineering calculations, feasibility reports, and drawings for coastal and waterfront development projects; Analyzing coastal, hydraulic, and environmental processes, including numerical modeling (wave transformation, hydrodynamics, sediment transport, estuarine and coastal processes) Assisting with design of coastal, flood control, and marsh restoration projects, marinas and harbors, navigation and dredging, and restoration of shorelines Assisting with obtaining permits for coastal and marine construction projects Working on diverse, multi-disciplinary projects with emphasis on providing client support   Required Qualifications: Masters in Coastal Engineering or Civil with Coastal Engineering emphasis with 1 year experience (undergraduate with 5 years of experience acceptable); Relevant experience or coursework in numerical and/or physical modeling of tidal hydrodynamics, wave transformation, sediment transport; Relevant experience or coursework in collection and analysis of environmental data and forces on coastal structures Strong English communication and writing skills Moffatt & Nichol is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
