Communications Manager

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, Comparative Media Studies (CMS), to be responsible for the public presentation of the CMS program and the Center for Future Civic Media. Will write, edit, and create innovative presentations, press releases, brochures, fliers, podcasts, photo, audio, video, and other web content in multiple formats. Duties for the Center for Future Civic Media will include working closely with the research director, outreach director, and conference staff to maintain web site and blogs, create presentations, and communicate with the public about the work of the center; monitoring communications from related enterprises; and finding creative approaches to communication. Will also maintain the CMS program's web site, consult on web sites for individual research projects and handle general inquiries from the public, and perform other communications duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: five to ten years' experience in communications fields and an S.M. or equivalent professional experience in media studies and/or production. An understanding of new media and communications research a plus. Should be highly skilled in new media and communication technologies and have extensive experience with the production and management of communications projects in print, video, and online media. Technical experience should include fluency with the Adobe Creative Suite 3, Apple Final Cut Pro, HTML, CSS, MySQL, Moveable Type, PHP, Apple Keynote, and the Microsoft Office suite. Excellent personal interaction skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work through difficult problems with a minimal amount of supervision expected.
