Composites Design Engineer

 

Gentex Corporation, an internationally recognized leader in the manufacture of sophisticated life support systems, has an immediate opening for a Composites Design Engineer.

 

The successful candidate must possess a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanic, or related discipline as well as five to seven years of experience with composite materials and structural design experience.  Prior experience with ABAQUS, ballistic composites such as Kevlar and Spectra, and GD&T is desired.

 

The Composites Design Engineer will:Apply fundamental design principles and knowledge of composite materials and processes to the development of head borne personal protective equipment

 Utilize understanding of composite mechanics to optimize product design and conduct failure analyses during development and/or field support

 Conduct tolerance analyses for composite components and interface with manufacturing engineering to address the influence of processing techniques on product design

 Integrate technical, cost, value, and safety considerations into the product definition to comply with customer and company guidelines.

 Demonstrate a strong background in computational and experimental solid mechanics, as well as significant experience in the design and modeling of composites and composite structures

 Apply analytical techniques and the results of FEA to practical/actual events successfully

 Be competent with CATIA and/or Solidworks

 Possess excellent written and oral communication skills as well as fluency in MS Office Products
