Controls Engineer - PA-ATMO (Robert Bosch)
PA-ATMO is a Bosch division that develops and builds assembly and test machinery for Bosch internal use. The machinery is used for products like diesel common rail injection, fuel injection, braking system and several automotive electronic components. PA-ATMO has currently 8 sites world wide. PA-ATMO1 in Feuerbach/Germany, PA-ATMO2 in Madrid/Spain, PA-ATMO3 in Suzhou/China, PA-ATMO4 in Charleston, SC, PA-ATMO5 in Changsha/China, PA-ATMO6 in Bangalore/India and PA-ATMO7 in Toluca, Mexico, Moehwald GmbH, Germany. ATMO employs approx. 1200 engineers and technicians world-wide. The engineering controls group, PA-ATMO4/END3 performs programming and electrical design tasks required for each project. The design staff is under the direction of the Group Leader for technical leadership, conformance to standards, problem solving and personnel issues. The goal of the design staff is to design and or program to the most efficient, cost effective, functional and consistent design for PA-ATMO4 machinery. The engineers must balance the requirements of PA-ATMO4 corporate standards with the requirements of the customer. The design staff also reports, on a project by project basis, to the assigned Project Engineer and Project Manager. This allows close cooperation to ensure the project goals and standards are met, as well as training background and systems of PA-ATMO4 are best utilized.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design and modify Controls Systems and provide concepts, schedules, and quotations as required.
· Select, purchase, conduct and/or supervise the installation of PLC and computer systems used to control production and assembly equipment, including associated hardware, i.e. relays, transformers, power supplies, etc.
· Program logic devices including PLC’s, computer systems, and communications interfaces.
· Develop software for control systems
· Communicate effectively with customers and direct technicians, electricians, and contractors as required.
· Develop, implement and upgrade procedures and specifications relative to control systems and their components.
· Establish and maintain contacts with vendors and suppliers of hardware and systems support.
· Know, apply and conform to governmental, industry, corporate and local standards to ensure the proper accomplishment of design, assembly, testing, runoff, and acceptance/signoff of production equipment.
· Network production equipment control computers together to enhance control and the sharing of production information.
· Provide training to technicians, electricians and manufacturing engineers as required
· Occasional travel to RB-plants in NAFTA Region and Germany
REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum 8 years work experience in controls design environment, including PLC controls and software, Human Machine Interfaces, Robotics, Vision inspection and test systems. · Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or a equivalent work experience in a technical field emphasizing electrical, electronic, and computer areas, software, project leadership.
· Knowledge and experience in developing, installing and testing manufacturing and assembly processes; and how control equipment relates to those processes.
· Previous experience designing, building, programming and testing production equipment, including conveyors, Pick and Place Units, servo applications, vision systems, network controls and Robotics.
· Experience generating work instructions, operating instructions, preventative maintenance instructions.
· Previous experiences coordinating build and test of machinery.
· Strong understanding of electrical/electronic principles, control systems, Machine safety standards and use of support documentation
· Knowledge of national, industry and Bosch standards and Machine and Robot safety requirements.· Knowledge of the operation and programming of PLC’s (AB and Siemens S7, PCs, Bosch Opcon System and Neurocheck Vision System, other Vision Systems like Cognex and Keyence and Robotics, Field bus I/O)
· Knowledge and understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Networking of Computers on Windows NT OS.
· Experience with Electric Design Tools like Eplan and/or AutoCAD.
· Experience with Robot programming (Adept, Staeubli, Fanuc)
· Previous experiences with networking, graphical software, and Windows NT a plus
