This position is within the System Test group, an integral part of Dolby’s Products and Technology Division. The primary task is to verify through test that Dolby’s Digital Cinema products can deliver the perfect video and sound for the perfect entertainment experience. Responsibilities include verifying the functionality of:

networked playback systems when integrated with external management systems

multi-channel digital audio decoder products

front panel user interfaces and remote control user interfaces

monitoring and control functions of networked playback systems

high definition digital video content packaging and playback products

As a member of the D-Cinema test team you will help to verify maximum playback performance of the system - up to 16 channels of audio output and HD quality video. You will be involved in designing automated tests to check the operation of system components in a test theatre with up to 24 playback auditoriums on a single data network. You will also be performing manual tests on the system. Tasks will include:

designing and implementing test automation scripts

writing and executing test procedures

analyzing test results to ensure that the product functions per requirements

documenting test results

Essential Job Functions

Serve as team member with responsibility for assigned project tasks

Develop test tools that yield cost effective and reliable pass / fail results

Work with team leaders and senior engineers to establish product test requirements, schedule and performance goals

Design, implement, and conduct cost-effective test and evaluation procedures to ensure product requirements are met

Report problems through formal bug tracking system.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years professional experience OR Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science and working knowledge of evaluation methods in the design, development, and debugging of hardware and software systems.

Ability to design and build hardware / software test harnesses.

Professional experience programming in at least one of the following languages: Java, C, or C++.

Practical experience developing and delivering completed test automation scripts on Unix or Linux platforms e.g Perl or bash scripts.

Practical experience setting up commonly used networked components a plus: managed switches, routers, access rights, basic IP configuration.

Knowledge and experience designing or testing digital audio encoders and decoders a plus.

Practical experience testing the interaction of software and hardware in a real time embedded system a plus.

Must be methodical, detail-oriented, have a thorough approach to problem solving, have good communication skills, and have a team-oriented work ethic.
