Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation.OVERVIEW OF POSITION:The West Texas Gas Development Geologist is part of a multi-disciplinary field management team which includes production/operations engineering, reservoir engineering, earth science, field operations, land, facility engineering and drilling and completion engineering functions. The focus of this position is on providing geological leadership and support for enhancing base production through sound asset, reservoir and welbore management. The West Texas Gas Team manages Chevron’s assets in the Fort Stockton, Headlee, Conger and Big Lake areas in West Texas. The team is responsible for managing numerous oil and gas wells in primary production with total gross production of 5300 BOPD and 190 MMCFPD. Qualifications:RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:• Performing a variety of reservoir/field mapping functions.• Integrating multiple vintages and types of well log data and production data, to identify opportunities for production enhancement. • Efforts will focus primarily on development and evaluation of workover opportunities.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:In order to be considered for this job, applicants must have:• Master’s degree in Geology or Geophysics.• In lieu of a Master’s degree, at least 5 years of relevant industry experience as an Earth Scientist may be accepted.• Familiarity with development geology work processes and have the ability to integrate well, and production data to evaluate reservoirs. Reservoir Management skills such as reservoir mapping and characterization must be demonstrated. • The successful candidate needs to be adept at volumetrics, reserve and risk assessment, formation evaluation, planning for and managing reservoir surveillance programs on workovers.• Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team to perform detailed subsurface assessments, reservoir management plans and workover proposals.• Awareness of business drivers. • Ability to perform reservoir risk assessments and assist with decision and economic analysis. • General knowledge of project management concepts.
