Education: B.S. degree in classical engineering. Prefer: M.S. degree in classical engineering. Job Description: Director of Strategic, Commercial and Technology Engineering. Will be responsible for the following directorates: Chief Engineering Strategic and Commercial Systems, Process Engineering, Design and Analysis, Chief Engineer Launch Abort System (LAS). Will be responsible for directing and supporting ATK's critical Strategic, Commercial Business, and Technology Programs. Directs several professional and technical disciplines. Directs operating function of significant importance to the operating success of the business unit where the scope and complexity require integration of all the professional and technical disciplines within a major function. Primary focus is on achieving operational results requiring managerial integration a breadth across the organization. Manages activities through first and or second level managers. Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to the organization. Ensures that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained. Experience: Skills and experience normally acquired through an MS Degree in Classical Engineering and 15 years related work experience, or BS Degree and 20 years related work experience. Eight to ten years experience in Engineering Leadership position(s) with progressive responsibilities including Program Management, Technology Planning, Launch Vehicles and Business Development. Eight to Ten years experience Technical Resource Management, including budget planning, ensuring technical capabilities are available, setting performance expectations, driving timely and clearly communicated decisions and recommendations. Eight to Ten years experience in Business Administration Process including business schedule management, strategic planning, financial planning, human resource management (employee relations, staffing, discipline and performance management). Developed Command Skills. Relishes leading, able to take unpopular stands if necessary, encourages direct and tough debate but isn't afraid to end it and move on, energized by tough challenges. Skilled in Conflict Management. Able to step up to conflicts, seeing them as opportunities, reads situation quickly, skilled listener, able to find common ground and get cooperation with minimum noise. Organizational and Positioning Skills, including getting things done through others, understanding the origin and reasoning behind key policies, practices, and procedures. Business Understanding.
