POSITION SPECIFICATION

 Summary:  The Director of Coke Battery will champion and coordinate developing technologies for U. S. Steel’s Coke Manufacturing Facilities.

 Key Relationships:Reports to: Managing Director-Coke Battery Assessment, Reliability & Rehabilitation.Direct Reports/Team Members:Environmental DepartmentCoke Battery Operations Managers

 Major Responsibilities:Collaborate with plant engineering, operations, staff and contracted services to facilitate the cost effective development and execution of Coke Plant rehabilitation projects.Assist in development of corporate standards with regard to future specifications for operating units, infrastructure and environmental projects for coking operations. Explore and evaluate new and innovative technologies to improve plant environmental performance, productivity, and/or overall cost performance.Champion/coordinate with plants to develop innovation technologies for improvement, and evaluate/implement alternate methodologies such as modular refractory replacement, improve material selection in heat effective zones on batteries, and pre casting of components.Establish best practices for operational excellent for coke batteries.

 Performance Metrics:Establish performance goals and objectives with the Managing Director-Coke Battery Assessment, Reliability & Rehabilitation.Technology improvements for the coke operations.Increase coke production and/or decrease fuel rates.

 

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION

 Ideal Experience:Minimum of 7 to 10 years experience working in a coke or primary operations.Demonstrated knowledge of coking facilities required.

 Education:BS degree in Engineering, preferably Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Electrical
