Director, Consumer Electronics Product Management

Englewood-based Intermap Technologies, a GIS/geospatial technology leader building highly accurate digital elevation datasets for entire countries, has an immediate opening for an experienced Consumer Electronics Product Management Director.

 

The primary responsibility of the Product Management Director is cradle to grave management of the product planning, development, production, marketing, and support cycle. He/she will have the responsibility to assess user and business needs in order to identify functional requirements as defined by clients. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker who works well within a project and client team, and can serve as a communication bridge between non-technical users, technical solution developers, finance, engineering, and marketing research. Ultimately, the Director will collaborate with team members to define functional requirements and lend his/her expertise towards product pricing, development, deployment and support.

 

The right person must possess superior technical skills to understand the functional architecture of the product solutions, and excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and written. The ideal candidate has an intimate knowledge of product management, product development, product marketing strategy and product sales and distribution as it relates to consumer products (specifically, consumer electronics).  Additionally, this candidate should have experience with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in consumer electronics. Experience and familiarity with GPS products is a strong asset..

 

Job Requirements

Required skills

·  MUST have product management experience

·  MUST have geospatial industry experience/knowledge

·  MUST have experience launching consumer products (GPS/Personal Navigation Devices)

·  Excellent problem solving skills

·  Good communication and writing skills

·  Strong analytical skills

·  Excellent interview and client interaction skills

·  Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams (including creative)

·  Ability to write business/customer requirements document and functional specifications

·  Experience working with business clients to understand their business strategies, key drivers

·  Undergraduate degree in business or engineering - MBA is a strong asset

·  Consumer electronics product management experience a plus

·  Experience in writing business plans, including ROI analysis, pricing models, etc.

Responsibilities

·  Assess user and business needs to identify product/marketing requirements

·  Develop user case models by outlining the product functionality

·  Work with engineering, finance, and marketing research to drive and understand functional requirements of end-user’s experience

·  Understand customer and user requirements, strategies and goals

·  Work closely with OEMs in the planning, development, and marketing of new GPS products.
