Job Summary: 

The Drafter transforms marked up product designs using computer-aided design (CAD) into detail drawings and/or solid models.  Has knowledge of commonly used design concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.  Reviews engineering drawings to ensure adherence to established guidelines and standards.  Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.  Performs other engineering functions related to the design such as creating document packages and processing Engineering Change Notices (ECN).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Prepare engineering design specifications and material requirements for non-standard products.  Prepare layouts, component drawings, submittal drawings, BOM’s, and schematics for sales order support as needed.  Upon completion, the BOM and all supporting documentation are returned for checking and approval.

·  Use computer aided drafting skills and equipment, develops engineering drawings from sketches or mark ups provided.

·  Creates customer drawings and catalog instruction drawings as needed.  Forwards to appropriate personnel.

·  Enters, updates, and maintains data in document control system.

·  File all paperwork and drawings (both hardcopy and electronic) as required (including but not limited to General Engineering procedures, Manufacturing procedures, and Internal Price Lists).

·  Provides manufacturing prints for order requests from production.

·  Completes special projects and works independently to accomplish goals.

·  Assist in the preparation and completion of instruction manuals for manufactured products.

·  Completes and submits monthly Progress Reports and various other reports, as needed, to Engineering Manager, and any other managers as required.

·  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge & Experience:  mechanical drafting and design experience utilizing 2D and 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred)

 

Education: Associates degree in mechanical design or equivalent
