Drafting Manager

Our Birmingham client is seeking a pipeline drafting manager who will lead an existing team.  This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering and will work closely with the other engineering managers to ensure the services provided by the Drafting Section are fully and efficiently integrated into the overall department mission of executing projects. 

 

Other responsibilities will be to: Create and maintain an enthusiastic and collaborative work environment Ensure the timely completion of "For Construction" and "As-Built" drawings for Maintenance Capital and Commercial/Value Added projects Ensure the timely completion of GIS/GeoFusion initiatives and Mapping requests/projectsEnsure a timely and complete response to engineering records requestsMonitor, track and report on the status of projects as required Administer the Performance Management Program (PMP) for each Drafting Section employee as required throughout the yearProactively address the development and training requirements for each employee Manage all staffing issues to ensure high quality/appropriately skilled resources are available to accomplish assigned work Manage/minimize the use of contingent workers for specific activities and initiatives Maintain drafting processes and standards Exercise and apply commonly-used drafting concepts, practices, procedures and technologies within the pipeline industry Understand drafting programs and applications  Promote continuous improvement and enhancement efforts  Ensure internal processes and standards are documented, implemented and managed Act as a resource to assist internal customers with the use and enhancement of Drafting applications. Demonstrate the ability to lead others in accomplishing business objectives.

Minimum requirements include:Bachelor’s Degree — Engineering course of study or have a minimum of fifteen (15) years drafting experience  Additionally, a minimum of five(5) years experience in the pipeline industry is requiredKnowledge of Windows Operating SystemsStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and set prioritiesStrong analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to initiate and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other departments, internal customers and external customers, contractors and vendorsAbility to handle stressful situations and effectively manage priorities during critical deadline driven conditions
