ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Gloucester Engineering Co., Inc .founded in 1961 is a leading global supplier of integrated plastics processing equipment, and specialists in the design and engineering of extrusion systems. Headquartered in Gloucester, Massachusetts is currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated Electrical Engineer to create designs for plastic film extrusion control systems including all documentation and some programming.

Specific duties include:Work from detailed specifications to create schematics, panel and machine layouts, parts lists, and installation wire and cable listsWork with applications in developing layout of all machine sections and control panels in customer’s facilityGenerate cable tray, utility trench, and/or cable trough layouts including parts lists.Generate I/O list for programmers.Specify and design power distribution for system controls including buss and circuit breakers.Some programming of A-B PLC, Extrol and future generation controlsIdentify and quantify ideas for design improvements, new designs, and potential cost savings.

 

Education and Experience required:BSEE or BSEETMinimum of 5 years industrial control system designMinimum 2 years experience with Promise-eMinimum 5 years experience with ACADExperience in designing to NFPA79, UL508A, CSA C22.2Thorough knowledge in designing to applicable European standards including Machine Safety, Low-Voltage Directive, and EMCExperience in design of controls for film extrusion and high speed web-handling preferred Basic knowledge of electrical assembly and wiring techniques for power, signal. and control to create electrical designs that facilitate efficient manufacturing of control panelsExcellent skills in MS Office applications including Word and Excel Strong verbal and written communication skills are requiredAbility to establish and maintain clear and concise communications with suppliers, internal departments including purchasing, manufacturing, and installation, and customersWilling to work occasional overtime as required to meet schedule commitmentsOccasional travel (national and international) required (less than 15%)
