Electrical Controls Engineer

BASIC FUNCTION

Perform various design investigations and analysis of current projects and develops a control system that meets or exceeds the customer requirements.  Utilizes knowledge of current product design, and the latest technology, to assist in the innovative design ideas for future baggage conveyor control systems.  Perform on site start –up and troubleshooting support.

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESEnsures compliance with customer requirements specified in the project documents.Communicates with the Controls Engineering Supervisor in order to implement directions and tasks within the department and project simultaneously.Oversee and follow all operations needed to engineer, manufacture, program and commission the projects with the general planning assigned to him by the Controls Engineer Supervisor.Writes description of operation for the controls portion of assigned projects.Contributes to keep the design standards up and the database updated to ensure high quality product.Keeps current with technology and recommends changes to components and systems to gain maximum cost effectiveness while maintaining system performance and reliability.Participates in every operation, as required, such as: drafting, programming, testing and start up at the site of the project.Acts as Horsley’s representative of the Controls Engineering Department during commissioning of the project at the site.Travels as need to affect a smooth start up.  May include up to an including 30-40% travel. Performs additional duties and assignments as may be required by the Controls Engineering Supervisor.

 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEBSEE DegreeProficient with PLC and HMI programming, Allen Bradley RSLogic5000 and RSViewSE preferred.  Computer literacy in PC environment and proficiency with a wide variety of computer software packages, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Visio and Outlook.Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the baggage-handling field.Read, understand and be able to produce schematic diagrams.Strong communication, organizational and project management skills.Willingness to learn new software and technologiesMust be able to obtain Airport Security access BadgeWorking knowledge of AutoCAD, C++, C# helpful.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (may not be modified)
