Electrical Department Head  POSITION SUMMARYThe Electrical Department Head has overall responsibility for the management of the electrical department, including management of staff, budgeting, and allocation of resources. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTechnical Quality ControlDepartment Head shall be responsible for the technical quality of the work product on all projects, and shall perform (or assign a senior engineer in his/her place) technical quality control review for all work products. Department Head is responsible for maintaining Departmental standards for technical accuracy and expertise. Department head shall establish new Department standards where appropriate to meet needs of clients and/or code requirement in coordination with DTO. Responsible for the development and maintenance of all Department Standards including calculations, CAD Details, and design procedure. Client Assignments & OversightDepartment Head will assign Department personnel based on specific skills required, availability, and project schedule for all projects. Responsible for maintaining individual/department utilization rates at acceptable levels. Responsible for ensuring that project deadlines are met, and that all SOW elements have been incorporated. Department Head shall be responsible for identifying staffing requirements, with the assistance of the DTO and Human Resources to fill vacancies, and/or expand the technical staff as appropriate and justified by job schedules and financial health of the company. Department Head shall coordinate with the Human Resources Manager and DTO to locate, interview, and prepare offer letter to potential employees. Department Head shall monitor and maintain control over day-to-day activities of all departmental personnel to ensure successful completion of projects. Senior EngineerDepartment Head shall serve as a Senior Electrical Engineer and perform duties as required on assigned projects that are consistent with skills and needs of the department. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE College Degree (4-Year, B.S. Engineering), preferred. Professional Engineer in Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia-preferred. 10+ Years Electrical Senior Engineering Experience (Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Telecommunications), Project Manager Experience preferred. Leading teams and managing and improving team and individual performance. Participated in Strategic Planning efforts. Budget Management. Construction Document Technologist (CDT) certified by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)- preferred. LEED Accredited Professional certified by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Electrical Plans Examiner and Commercial Energy Inspector certified by the International Code Council (ICC). NICET Level I & II Certified in Fire Alarm Systems.  PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE. Working knowledge of FAR, contract and liability law.
