Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Department: Engineering
FLSA Status: Exempt
Established, growing medical equipment manufacturer has a position for a creative, versatile, multi-discipline, hands-on Electrical Design Engineer at it’s Seattle site. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
This position offers the opportunity to make significant contributions to design and manufacturing challenges encompassing a wide variety of technologies including electro-mechanical design, heating and cooling devices, production and measurement of therapeutic irradiance devices, weighing applications, prototyping, testing and associated test procedures.
The ideal candidate will have:Ability to work in a team or independently. Excellent electrical engineering design skills for low to moderate production devices utilizing motors, heaters, fans, transformers etc.Hands on ability to conceptualize and fabricate/assemble/test feasibility models and prototypes. Strong knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical design and concepts including designing for world wide power including single and three phase power, component selection (power supplies, transformers, etc.), wiring, cabling and connectors, electrical safety testing, electrical based test fixtures. Ability to perform electronics design a plus.Working knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals a plus.Strong understanding of production floor manufacturing, assembly and test procedures and the ability to apply engineering knowledge to solve production problems and improve quality and efficiency.Strong MS Office skills. Knowledge of CAD a plus (Inventor, Solidworks, ProE).Ability to work in a regulated medical device environment. Ability to organize and manage design and manufacturing projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Stay up-to-date and follow all Quality System procedures related to this job, which can affect the quality of products or services provided to our customers.Proposes and implements design solutions in order to meet product specificationsCoordinates engineering resources to achieve project goalsAssures that all designs meet appropriate safety or regulatory requirementsInterfaces with vendors or outside consultants as appropriateConstructs models and prototypes in order to test design conceptsDevelops test procedure for products and associated manufacturing fixtures.Assists in the development and maintenance of product/project QSR documentation required by Engineering SOPs and national/international quality standards and regulationsTracks project progress to the schedule
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) In Electrical Engineering from four year college or university, and ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Possess high level computer skills in Microsoft Office. CAD program skills a plus.
