Objectives: Provide proactive assistance to clients by identifying and resolving product issues, along with providing timely and accurate test results and information to both internal and external clients that meet or exceed their expectations.
Duties & Responsibilities: All Associate Engineer Responsibilities Plus:
o Offer problem resolution, as applicable, for any client issues identified, highlighted or questions with the aim of enhancing client satisfaction and improving client relations.
Sample Preparation / Testing
o Understand and interpret standards for appropriate test methods, providing direction to staff and client, as required.
o Reviews contract requirements prior to testing in order to assure adherence to client requirements, and coordinates between labs. Acts as liaison to client services and technical staff.
o Evaluate products submitted for testing for quality / safety issues, as required. Conduct research for new testing services and standards.
o Prepare a variety of samples for testing using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards / specifications, as required, as complexity warrants.
o Conducts testing on a variety of consumer products samples using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards / specifications appropriate to the sample, as required, as complexity warrants.
o Follows the guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
o Accurately record test data.
o Evaluate test results data. Provide direction to clients relating to other BV internal lab information, as applicable.
o Train Associate Engineers on sample preparation method and test methods.
o Assist with department testing in other areas, providing direction, as required.
Report Preparation
o Prepares and reviews written technical reports and invoices.
o Perform final review and interpret data / reports. Perform critical error review.
o Organizes and monitors workload to meet or exceed laboratory turn around time and client expectation.
o Lead in the coordination of technical & administrative aspects of various departmental projects.
Technical Services
o Prepares written communication to internal and external clients regarding administrative and technical issues, providing direction as needed.
o Provides technical consultation to internal and external clients, providing direction to techs, analysts and associate engineers, as needed.
o Interface with staff members internally and at other locations on interpretations and to ensure global consistency, providing direction to analysts, associate engineers, and technicians as needed.
o Research and develop new testing services / methods / procedures / set-ups, providing direction to analysts, associate engineers, and technicians as needed.
o Write, train, implement and update lab procedures, test protocols, and technical procedures, providing direction as needed.
o Calibrate, operate, and maintain testing equipment, maintain supplies, lab cleanliness and analytical instrumentation, as required.
o Maintain test equipment, supplies, lab cleanliness (and analytical instrumentation), as required.
o Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing direction to other lab personnel.
o Maintains up to date knowledge of current regulations / industry standards and products to be tested.
o Make recommendations to clients for testing and inspections.
o Provide technical opinions / recommendations / interpretations pertaining to compliance, requests, testing issues directly to clients or other BV locations.
o Interacts / participate with / in industry / government agencies to review, and interpret standards and regulations, providing direction to staff and clients, as needed.
o Develop materials for and conduct client visits and educational tours.
o Prepares quotes with client services, assisting with identifying appropriate standards / protocols for testing, as required.
o Identify / assist with new business opportunities / development activities / technical services.
o Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
Quality
o Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System and assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Laboratory Quality System.
o Provide feedback to department Manager regarding departmental systems, processes and recommendations for improvements.
Leadership
o Assists in developing department strategy, client / business development activities.
o Assist with quotes, proposals, presentations, calls to prospects and clients.
o Provide technical support to Technicians / Associate Engineers / External Clients.
o Lead and direct projects of lab technical support staff.
o Provide technical training to staff and clients.Required Skills

Education & Experience:
o Four year Engineering or Technology degree required and 2 years technical experience preferred or
