Arcata Associates, Inc. is an engineering services and information technology company supporting NASA and the DoD. We currently have the following opening on our Research Facilities and Engineering Support Services Contract at the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

Electronics Technician 1/2

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide computer hardware technical support for the RF&ESS contract.

Maintain PC’s, servers, and data storage systems. These tasks require hardware maintenance to the board level, operating systems maintenance and software installation. Periodic travel may be required based on project and mission requirements.

Perform backups on all required systems at intervals determined by management and System Administrators. Properly document backups and store backups at alternate sites predetermined by management.

Perform maintenance and repair of the ground-based and airborne magnetic tape recording systems on the RF&ESS Contract. Repair magnetic tape recording systems per the manufacturer’s latest procedures and recommendations.

Provide support on configuration of individual airborne and laboratory recorders per Contract requirements.

Perform diagnostics and repair of instrumentation/data acquisition system components, subsystems, and test devices. Diagnostics and repairs include inspections, operational exercises, adjustments and related procedures according to specifications, drawings and manuals. (Applicable to Elect Tech I – Assist with diagnostics and repair work, usually under the direction of a higher-level technician.)

Conduct pre and post flight checks and troubleshoots instrumentation/data acquisition systems to meet the flight test mission schedule. (Applicable to Elect Tech I – Assist with troubleshooting, usually under the direction of a higher-level technician.

(Applicable to Elect Tech II – Provide technical guidance and training to lower level technicians.

Other Duties: Perform housekeeping of the work area and equipment according to specified standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Electronics Technician II: In-depth knowledge of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for magnetic tape recording systems; PC’s with Windows 2000, XP, and Linux operating systems; Sun and SGI workstations. Basic knowledge of telemetry and radar data processing systems, RF equipment utilized for radiating and receiving telemetry signals, telemetry antennas and tracking servo systems.

Electronics Technician I: Basic knowledge of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for instrumentation recording systems; PC’s with Windows Linux, 2000, and XP operating systems; Sun and SGI workstations. Telemetry and radar data processing, display building, basic programming changes in Fortran, C, C-Sharp, .net, XML, HTML. Operation and maintenance of telemetry antennas and associated uplink and downlink RF systems. Configure and operate RF and digital electronics test equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Electronics Technician II: Associates degree in Electronics Technology or a closely related field or completion of formal training in an accredited commercial or military electronics school. At least 3 years of related experience.

Electronics Technician I: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency. Completion of formal training in an accredited commercial or military electronics school or at least six months of related work experience.
