Job Responsibilities Include: - Analyzing and developing strategic approaches and best practices for utility energy management programs, - Analyzing business practices in environmental, fleets and asset management domains, identifying gaps and developing performance improvement opportunities; - Researching and analyzing transportation sector improvements including alternative fuels and vehicles; - Maintaining knowledge of existing and emerging sustainability trends, policy and standards; - Developing corporate environmental sustainability strategies, including preparation of business cases and financial analyses - Designing and supporting the implementation of management systems to support client environmental sustainability objectives - Supporting related activities such as energy and environmental system surveys, and auditing. Required & Desired Education: Required: Bachelor’s in business, operations management or engineering, with an emphasis on energy-related work, or related field. MBA desired, but not required. Required Skills: This position requires five to seven years of experience with some aspect of business management analysis, energy consulting, and/or sustainability. The ability to work creatively and proactively as a member of a team is very important. Excellent quantitative, writing, communication, and presentation skills are also highly valued. Some prior project management experience. Candidate must be available to travel periodically to perform work and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license. Minimum requirements also include analytical experience in one or more of the following fields: clean energy, clean fuels/vehicles, green manufacturing/operations, climate change, materials efficiency/by-products synergy, and water treatment technologies. In addition, experience in: Business process analysis and re-engineering including documenting business practices and processes, conducting gap analysis, drafting process and practice changes; Cost and financial analysis -- conducting cost analysis, developing financial projections; operations analysis, including at the plant and process level. Desired Skills: Candidates are desired to have some or all of the following skills: the experience of having implemented at least one significant energy reduction, sustainability measure, or recycling program at a company or organization. LEED® NC accreditation is desired, but not required. Experience in sustainability strategy and technology analysis, and related business development are pluses. Operational auditing, including plant level facility energy and resource (water, materials, labor) auditing, life cycle assessment and costing, and quantitative engineering analysis are also pluses.
